Required Documents
Tourist Visa Requirements:
- Valid German passport (min. 6 months validity, 2 blank pages)
- Completed visa application form
- One passport-sized photo (biometric, 35mm x 45mm)
- Return flight booking or itinerary
- Hotel booking or invitation letter from host in Tanzania
- Proof of sufficient funds (Kontoauszug from last 3 months)
- Yellow fever certificate (Gelbfieberimpfung) if transiting endemic countries
- Travel insurance covering Tanzania

Application Process
Apply online (e-visa), in person at the Embassy in Berlin, or by registered post (Einschreiben).
Fill out the visa form and gather all supporting documents for your visa type.
E-visa: online payment. Embassy: bank transfer (Uberweisung) or cash. Post: include Verrechnungsscheck.
Submit and await processing. Standard: 5-10 days. Express: 2-3 days.
Pick up at the Embassy or receive by post. E-visa will be emailed as a PDF to print.
Visa on Arrival
German citizens can obtain a visa on arrival at major Tanzanian entry points:
- Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), Dar es Salaam
- Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
- Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, Zanzibar
- Major land border crossings
Health Requirements
Tanzania requires a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate if arriving from or transiting through endemic countries. Direct flights from Germany (Frankfurt, Munich) typically do not require this, but connecting via Addis Ababa, Nairobi, or Doha may trigger the requirement depending on layover duration.
